A： おとぎ 話のはじめは、いつも、"Once upon a time..." です。
これは、今も昔も変わりません。映画「シュレック」(2001)のはじまりの言葉は、"Once upon a time, there was a lovely
princess."（むかし、むかし、あるところに美しいプリンセスがいました）ですし、「麗しのサプリナ」（1954）のはじまりも、"Once
upon a time, on the north shore of Long Island, some thirty miles from New York,
there lived a small girl on a large estate. （むかし、むかし、ニューヨークから３０マイルのロング・アイランド北岸の広大な邸宅に、一人の小さな女の子が住んでいました）
ところで、白雪姫の「鏡よ。鏡。世界中で一番美しい人は誰？」 は、"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest
of them all?" と言っています。beautiful でなく、fair を使っているところに注意、My
Fair Lady と言いますものね。
